Rayman comeback
- by Ben Kerry
Some now-removed job postings from Ubisoft have ignited considerable excitement today, and for valid reasons – they pertain to an entirely new Rayman title from the firm’s Milan studio.
Shared on Reddit and circulated by our colleagues at Nintendo Life, two job listings were identified for this forthcoming Rayman venture – one of which refers to the game as a “AAA title”. These announcements have since been deleted, but here’s how they were initially presented:
“Ubisoft Milan is on the lookout for a skilled 3D Gameplay Animator to participate in the creation of a distinguished AAA title for the Rayman franchise. You will ensure that the quality and content of gameplay animation assets are in harmony with the vision of the game.“
“Ubisoft Milan is in search of a Senior Game Designer who will contribute to the Rayman brand.”
Curiously, Ubisoft Milan recently collaborated on the Nintendo-exclusive Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, but there’s no indication that their upcoming project will continue that alliance. Late last year, Ubisoft confirmed that this studio was engaging with Rayman Legends developer Ubi Montpellier on “an exploration phase of the Rayman brand”, which is certainly what these new job announcements pertain to.
The 2013 title Legends was an incredibly impressive platformer, and we’re eager to see where the franchise heads next. Here’s hoping this Ubisoft initiative materializes sooner rather than later!
