Ubisoft Forms ‘Vantage Studios’ To Work On Some Of Its Biggest Franchises

Featuring Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry & additional titles

Following many months of strategizing and pursuing alternative investments, Ubisoft’s initiative to launch a spin-off gaming firm dedicated to some of its premier franchises is now operational. Straight from the source, Ubisoft and Tencent have established ‘Vantage Studios’ to cultivate and circulate significant Ubisoft IP.

This intellectual property will encompass franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six, with Vantage Studios incorporating several existing divisions of the French game developer. The initiative to consolidate them all under Vantage Studios appears to aim at decentralizing the organization and granting each team greater autonomy in its decision-making processes.

“In light of the recent announcement regarding Ubisoft’s new subsidiary and its duo of co-CEOs, the company has revealed the inception of Vantage Studios, a newly formed “creative hub” tasked with overseeing some of Ubisoft’s most notable franchises: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six. Directed by Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes, Vantage Studios will manage the development and growth of these brands, leveraging Ubisoft’s extensive experience and capabilities, sharing services and technological resources, all while allowing developers more direct control over the games they create.

Vantage Studios marks the first step in Ubisoft’s continual evolution, with aspirations to establish additional creative hubs and align its brands and franchises under a unified identity and developmental proficiency. The objective of Vantage Studios, along with forthcoming creative hubs, is to foster stronger and more profound connections between developers and players. This refined strategy facilitates a higher degree of independence for developers and accelerates the process of collecting and integrating player feedback, all while retaining the advantages of Ubisoft’s expertise, services, tools, and technology.”

Certainly, Ubisoft hasn’t undertaken this simply out of goodwill – financial challenges and allegations of a harmful work environment appear to have guided them here. Nevertheless, we remain optimistic that this transition can lead to a more reliable output for these cherished franchises, and hopefully improved working circumstances for the individuals crafting these games.

Currently, we lack extensive details about the upcoming major installments in these franchises, but we will keep an eye on how this all unfolds between Ubisoft and Vantage Studios. In the meantime, feel free to explore the history surrounding this new Ubisoft & Tencent partnership below.
