By A significant milestone is approaching in 2026

Today is November 15th, 2025 – which signifies that Xbox is officially 24 years old! Indeed, Microsoft introduced the original Xbox and its initial games lineup to consumers nearly a quarter of a century ago on this very day; with The Rock and Bill Gates unveiling it to the audience back in 2001. Naturally, we wish the system (and the brand itself) a joyous birthday – but we are already looking forward to next year‘s significant milestone.
Indeed, as we’ve indicated several times on the platform, Xbox turns 25 next year – and we anticipate a rather eventful 12 months regarding the lineup of games from the team. A stellar collection of Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Halo: Campaign Evolved, and Gears of War: E-Day are all set to be released in 2026, possibly with additional announcements forthcoming. That’s quite a significant celebration for Xbox itself.
Those are all established details, though, aside from their exact release dates, but what about aspects beyond the games themselves? Do you anticipate Microsoft having substantial plans for Xbox as it reaches 25 years? Do you believe the team will simply allow the games to speak for themselves? There’s so much potential for surprises next year!
Reflecting on the 20th anniversary in 2021; Xbox certainly has the capability to host a grand celebration. Back then, we received the remarkable ‘Power On’ documentary, numerous additions in backwards compatibility, a substantial FPS Boost update – and overall, that entire event was a remarkable celebration of all things Xbox. We can’t assert that we are counting on a repeat performance in 2026, but we’re definitely optimistic that things will come quite close.
To be frank, aside from those four major game releases, we desire a celebration that honors truly the legacy of Xbox. It’s no secret that we’ve had a tumultuous journey over the past few years, and we would appreciate a reminder that Microsoft hasn’t entirely forsaken its Xbox roots. We have confidence that the team can still present something like this – but in the end, it all remains uncertain!
