Talking Point: Will We See Another ‘Anniversary Event’ For Xbox 360 Turning 20 This Year?

We certainly wish for that!

Four years prior, Xbox held a significant ‘Anniversary Celebration Event’ for the Original Xbox, and we truly appreciated what this occasion delivered. There were some amazing announcements from Team Green, we received that exceptionally insightful Xbox documentary and overall – the entire experience felt like a genuine celebration of all things Xbox. So, do we speculate that Microsoft has comparable plans this year?

Undoubtedly, the 2021 gathering represented 20 years since the inception of the Xbox brand and not merely a console tribute – but this year, it’s the Xbox 360 that reaches two decades. And although this might not be quite as remarkable a milestone, this console could be regarded as Xbox’s most cherished system in its legacy, and we believe it achieving two decades is deserving of recognition.

It’s reasonable to assert that here at PX HQ, we genuinely wish Microsoft to go above and beyond for the Xbox 360 anniversary. A revival of the backward compatibility initiative would be fantastic, more ActiBlizz classics joining Game Pass would be superb, and what about limited edition consoles and accessories as well? The 360 deserves some spotlight, after all.

Certainly, we recognize that Xbox now finds itself in a markedly different situation compared to four years ago – so in spite of these hopes, we are keeping our expectations tempered for the moment. Microsoft is becoming increasingly platform agnostic these days, and with hardware prices as they stand, it may be a stretch to anticipate much in that area particularly. Honestly, just a large digital commemoration for Xbox 360 and we would be pleased!
