Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 9-10)

Heading to the front lines?

We’ve reached another weekend, people! The week’s been packed, what with Microsoft sharing the latest Xbox Game Pass roundup just a couple of days back. While we’re still kicking our heels for August’s most sizeable Xbox and Game Pass arrivals, there’s already more than enough to dig into on the platform this weekend.

Here’s what we’ll be firing up over the next few days:

Ben Kerry, Staff Writer

Battlefield, Battlefield, Battlefield – if you hadn’t guessed, I’ll be deep in the Battlefield 6 beta the entire weekend on Xbox. It’s been ages since I felt this hyped for a fresh entry in EA’s storied FPS series, and I’m diving in every spare second.

If I somehow carve out time for something else – and that’s doubtful – it’ll likely be more Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. I’m barrelling down the last handful of roads I haven’t seen, raking in those juicy discovery XP boosts—another hour or two and I’ll have covered every inch of Hong Kong Island.

Enjoy the weekend, PXers.

Fraser Gilbert, Editor

Battlefield’s not quite my vibe, so I’m thinking of slipping back into Mafia: Definitive Edition ahead of (hopefully) snagging Mafia: The Old Country soon. As with half the backlog, I dropped the remaster after a couple of hours ages ago—time to finally give the 2020 overhaul its due.

Other than that, I’ll either boot up Assassin’s Creed Mirage on Game Pass or nab Assassin’s Creed Syndicate for pocket change in an Xbox sale. Sure, Mirage makes the most “logical” choice, yet something about Victorian London keeps calling my name. Might be time to let the Series X show it off.

Have an awesome weekend, everyone!

Chime in below and let us know what you’ll be loading up this weekend!

Ben serves as a News Writer at Pure Xbox, with a soft spot for explosive action, high-octane racers, and no-nonsense shooters on any Xbox disc he can find. When not clutching a gamepad like life itself rides on every headshot, he listens to music older than he is, yells at televised football, and can almost certainly be tracked down near a plate of food.
