After HD2’s arrival, Sony is pondering additional Xbox conversions
- authored by Ben Kerry
This past weekend, a Sony recruitment post hinting at future PS5 titles coming to rival systems — Xbox among them — quickly ignited forums everywhere. We were away from our keyboards and missed the initial chaos, so here’s the condensed version: PlayStation is searching for a higher-up to steer the company’s cross-platform roadmap — something our buddies at Push Square unpacked in greater depth:
The buzz has cooled slightly, but we’re betting plenty of you still have opinions to share, which is why we’re circling back! An addendum in that Push Square article warns this won’t mirror Xbox’s present plans — yet that won’t stop us from guessing which PS5 games could hop over next.
In a few weeks, Helldivers 2 lands on Team Green as the inaugural PlayStation Studios launch on Xbox. After it arrives, what would you like to see next? What do you honestly anticipate? The field is wide open, though it now seems Sony will selectively sanction ports to competing hardware when it fits their goals.
Before we get carried away, let’s dial back the hype slightly. Even with Helldivers 2’s move and the new hiring notice, we still don’t foresee every PlayStation Studios franchise rushing onto Xbox overnight. As eager as we are to experience The Last of Us and God of War on Microsoft’s hardware, the signals just aren’t strong enough yet. Ongoing live-service projects or fresh properties? Possible. Core pillars like Kratos and Ellie? Probably locked down for the foreseeable future.
Then again, we used to say similar things about Xbox — and now a brand-new Gears of War installment is prepping for a PlayStation 5 debut next month. Industry norms are shifting under our feet, suggesting Sony may chart a comparable course, so the discussion is more relevant than ever. Toss in Microsoft’s evolving brand narrative — hello, ROG Xbox Ally — and “Xbox” itself is being re-imagined, further erasing the old dividing lines going forward.
So, which other PS5 titles do you crave on Xbox? What ports do you realistically foresee from PlayStation Studios? Go as bold or as grounded as you like down in the comments.
