Talking Point: Did You Expect More From Xbox 360’s 20th Anniversary?

Crimson ring of indifference

Well, that’s a wrap, the 20th anniversary of Xbox 360 has arrived and passed. As you’ve likely noticed, here at Pure Xbox, we acknowledged the milestone – featuring several articles and nostalgia-fueled retrospectives disseminated across the web in recent times. Microsoft, on the other hand? To be frank, it seemed rather trivial in the grand scheme of Xbox’s week.

On the eve of the anniversary, Microsoft transformed its Xbox social platforms to commemorate the Xbox 360’s 20th celebration. This was soon accompanied by a nostalgic glimpse back at the console’s launch video from 2005, leading us to believe there might be a more extravagant celebration on November 22nd. Ultimately, no significant announcements emerged from Xbox headquarters.

This leads us to ponder: did you anticipate seeing more from Microsoft regarding this event? Here at PX HQ, we weren’t imagining as grand a showcase as what we typically witness for significant OG Xbox anniversaries, yet we must concede that we wished for a bit more excitement than mere basic social media updates. After all, the Xbox 20th anniversary event was fantastic; a genuine homage to the iconic green console back in 2021.

A few more backward-compatible releases, some ActiBlizz Xbox Game Pass news, and some limited edition peripherals – these types of offerings would have been splendid. We understand that the Xbox Series X|S era feels like it’s nearing its end, but the nostalgia factor is generally valuable; we would have eagerly embraced such announcements had they materialized!

In any case, feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments section. Did you anticipate more from the overall celebration? Engage with us below.
