Featuring rollback netcode and cross-platform play

To wrap up a weekend filled with fighting game excitement at EVO Japan, SEGA organized a special Virtua Fighter 2025 Spring stream, unveiling some thrilling news for Xbox enthusiasts.

Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio (Yakuza) and AM2 are set to bring Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. to the Xbox Series X|S at an upcoming date. This iteration of Virtua Fighter 5 will include rollback netcode and crossplay functionality, enabling you to face off against Virtua Fighter players on PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2.

SEGA has indicated that additional information regarding these console versions will be revealed soon, promising to “deliver even more content to ensure this is far beyond a mere port.” For now, that’s all we’ve got, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.

Here’s a brief overview of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., which made its debut on Steam earlier this year in January. You can view the Xbox announcement around the six-minute mark in the video above, along with the original Steam launch trailer below.

“Test your skills against the top fighters worldwide in the ultimate remaster of the classic 3D brawler, now with Rollback netcode support, stunning 4K visuals, and all the intense martial arts action of the acclaimed original. Engage in traditional VF modes like Arcade or Rank Match, create your own customized online tournaments and leagues for up to 16 participants, or observe the pros in Spectator Mode. Hone your fighting techniques to overcome every opponent in the Fifth World Fighting Tournament and cement your legacy as a Virtua Fighter champion!”
