By An update on Bethesda from Jez Corden

One notable absence from this year’s Xbox Games Showcase was Bethesda’s Starfield, despite an update from the team back in March stating that “a lot of exciting things are planned for the game this year”. While those things clearly weren’t ready to be shown off this summer, it’s claimed that Bethesda Game Studios is still working on Starfield, including new DLC.
This comes from Windows Central’s Jez Corden, who claims that Bethesda’s core team is still working on Starfield DLC and updates alongside the much-anticipated Elder Scrolls 6. We’ll quote Corden’s Starfield talk down below, pulled from a recent episode of The Xbox Two podcast:

“Bethesda’s core team is still working on Starfield […] Starfield’s gonna have more DLC from what I’ve heard. I don’t know when, I just heard that at least the Starfield DLC — and this is post-layoffs by the way — hasn’t been cancelled.
It could be cancelled in the future, next quarter I don’t know, but for right now it’s not cancelled. So, the core teams at Bethesda right now are working on Starfield DLC and also Elder Scrolls 6 is full-steam ahead.”
This is an interesting update, especially in the wake of the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Many fans were expecting the next big update to be revealed there, given that the Shattered Space DLC was revealed during Microsoft’s 2024 show. The game’s summer no-show led to fans voicing their concerns about the future of the game, but maybe this Corden update gives us a little bit of hope heading into the second half of the year.
Of course, as is always the case, this is reported information – and nothing formal has been announced by Bethesda or Microsoft yet. During that general update on progress back in March, the team said “we can’t wait to talk about [what’s next] when the time is right”, so we’ll just have to be a bit more patient for that next Bethesda update on Starfield.
