Is an Xbox launch approaching?
- by Ben Kerry
Earlier this month, the PS5 exclusivity period for Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 Remake finally concluded – and a new ESRB Rating indicates that the game’s Xbox launch is imminent.
Indeed, Silent Hill 2 has now been rated for Xbox Series consoles, with the ESRB assigning it an anticipated Mature 17+ rating. There’s no release date linked to its Xbox rating, but considering that PlayStation’s timed exclusivity ended earlier in October, we expect it to be available quite soon.
As for when it may be officially announced? It seems that Konami has missed the Halloween opportunity – but don’t worry, an Xbox reveal might be on the horizon. According to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, Microsoft is organizing an Xbox Partner Preview event in November – featuring “third-party games of all kinds”. If this occurs, there’s a strong chance Silent Hill 2 makes an appearance there, we believe.
Additionally, Corden also asserts that next month’s showcase “will predominantly include Xbox Play Anywhere titles” – and with Silent Hill F recently incorporated into the lineup, that’s another indicator that SH2 might show up next month. We’ll find out for certain very soon, with the Bloober Team remake finally rated for Xbox Series X|S.
