If you haven’t heard yet, the Silent Hill 2 Remake was released quietly on Xbox merely a few hours ago!

There’s been considerable conjecture regarding how this title will perform on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and the YouTube channel Fuzion Xbox Testing has swiftly provided some initial footage for us to aid in determining if it’s worth purchasing.

On Xbox Series X, the Silent Hill 2 Remake features two modes to select from — Quality and Performance — both delivering 4K output but with a native resolution that “roughly” fluctuates around the 1080p or lower range. The visuals appear commendable and, most crucially, the frame rate seems to remain stable, with this particular footage indicating it maintains a predominantly locked 30FPS and 60FPS across the two settings. Impressive!

On Xbox Series S, the Silent Hill 2 Remake offers a singular mode that appears to function at a native 831p or lower (outputting at 1080p). It still looks visually appealing, and once again, there’s an indication that it maintains a chiefly locked 30FPS. There’s no 60FPS choice, but we’re pleased to observe minimal drops (if any) from 30 frames.

As always, we must note that Fuzion Xbox Testing only aims to provide us with a preliminary glimpse of what to expect from games like this, and entities such as Digital Foundry will conduct more comprehensive testing in the forthcoming days and weeks.

Nevertheless, this is an encouraging first look at Silent Hill 2 Remake for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and if you intend to give it a try, remember that it’s discounted by 50% at launch – an excellent reason to acquire it for the weekend!

We’ll conclude with the two videos below – one for Series X, one for Series S.
