Roundup: Here’s What The Reviews Are Saying About EA Sports FC 26, Out Today On Xbox

The newest installment in the EA Sports FC franchise has officially launched today in the guise of EA Sports FC 26, which has been accessible in early access for a short period but has only just now seen its Standard Edition debut across all platforms.

We had been anticipating sharing a review of the game today, but it has been a chaotic week and it will have to be postponed a bit longer – for what it’s worth, we’re currently estimating an 8/10 as it stands.

The majority of the reviewers seem to align with this sentiment, with EA Sports FC 26 accumulating an 82 average score on Metacritic at the present time, which is quite commendable considering the last installment only achieved a maximum score of 76.

Let’s examine some of the EA Sports FC 26 evaluations:

TechRadar (4.5/5)

“EA Sports FC 26 is a genuine feast of well-honed modes, enhanced gameplay mechanics, and player likenesses that have never been more impressive. No single enhancement defines the experience, but offline players will be especially appreciative of this year’s array of realism-focused updates.”

Destructoid (9/10)

“FC 26 is the finest addition to the series in the past five years. It surpasses its predecessor in every aspect, and it exemplifies what any football game should aspire to be. With thrilling gameplay and expanded modes, there’s something for everyone to relish. You can easily dedicate hundreds of hours to grinding through the gameplay content and refining your skills, while the rewards serve as a delightful bonus.”

GamesRadar (4/5)

“Two unique gameplay styles see EA introduce genuine change. Manager mode is fantastic, and several aspects of Ultimate Team have seen enhancements as well, particularly rewarding attacking players. EA Sports FC 26 delivers all the teams, all the kits, and all the players – along with all the goals, continuously.”

DualShockers (8/10)

The annual nature of EA Sports FC usually hinders the sale of new copies due to the similarities between versions. FC 26 breaks that pattern by providing the single-player aspect with the attention it has been yearning for years. Without the weight of multiplayer balancing overshadowing things, the gameplay is likely to remain unchanged until FC 27 inevitably arrives.

Push Square (7/10)

“By effectively separating the gameplay into two very distinct presets, EA Sports FC 26 aims to cater to everyone. The more methodical Authentic toggle will appeal to offline Career mode enthusiasts, who strive for those gritty 1-0 victories. Meanwhile, the quicker Competitive option is tailored for online players, who aim to overwhelm their opponents with goals. Both modes feel enjoyable in their own ways, and when combined with several new features and improvements, you get a versatile football game that should satisfy all – except for those who simply can’t vibe with the franchise’s heavy focus on monetisation.”

GameSpot (7/10)

“The Competitive preset still leans slightly too much in favor of the attacking team, and in its attempt to satisfy every type of football fan, EA Sports FC 26 misses the mark. It’s very close, though. There are imperfections on and off the pitch, yet this is the best the series has been in a while. It may not take home a trophy this year, but it’s edging nearer to greatness.”

Don’t forget, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can access a 10-hour complimentary trial of EA Sports FC 26 as part of their subscription, making it an excellent way to determine if you wish to acquire this permanently.

For those curious about when EA Sports FC 26 will be incorporated into the main Xbox Game Pass library, we assume that will take place around June of the following year, so it seems unlikely to happen anytime soon.
