Roundup: Here’s What The ‘Ready Or Not’ Reviews Are Saying Ahead Of Its Xbox Release

Are you ready?

Ready Or Not brings its authentic SWAT-based shooting to consoles this week, including an Xbox release, which we’ve been keen to keep up with here at Pure Xbox.

Unfortunately, we haven’t had the time to put together a full review for Ready or Not here on the site, but a good few outlets are now sharing their thoughts on the console version ahead of its imminent launch. We’re here to gather some of those early impressions up, so you can get an idea of how Ready or Not plays on Xbox!

Here’s what the early reviews of Ready or Not for Xbox and PS5 are saying:

PlayStation Lifestyle (9/10)

“The measured, tactical gameplay features action-packed moments and some of the most memorable co-op gameplay you can have. Unafraid to deal with content that most other shooters would shy away from, this is a brave shooter that is as interesting as it is to play. Anyone looking for something different from standard FPS games should give it a shot with friends.”

VideoGamer (8.5/10)

“If you’ve been looking for a SWAT simulator for console—and judging by the game’s popularity on the PlayStation Store, a lot of people have—Ready or Not really is as good as they come. It could do with some more polished controls across the board, but VOID Interactive has done a great job bringing the game to a lot more players, even if PC gamers must suffer some very minor consequences.”

Dualshockers (8/10)

Ready or Not can be a little formulaic at times, but so is police work. It’s the second police game I’ve reviewed this year, but the first one I can wholeheartedly recommend. If you are here for the multiplayer, the PC players might move too fast for you, but you can just disable crossplay. The controls are intuitive, the AI is generally easy to command apart from some menu clunkiness, and the dystopian grit looks great on a big TV screen. I’m definitely going back to playing the PC version most of the time, but that doesn’t stop Ready or Not from being the best tactical shooter available on consoles today.

Game Rant (8/10)

“For those who count Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 and SWAT 4 among some of the best tactical shooters around, playing Ready or Not feels like riding a bike. Even with the adjustment of going from PC to console, Ready or Not still shoots to the top of the list of tactical shooters available on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, because there’s simply not much else on the market like it.”

TheSixthAxis (8/10)

“These are minor flaws, though, in what is otherwise an incredibly addictive and punishing co-op thrill ride. Ready or Not is an absolute blast, and the huge variety of levels and equipment provide a feast of equally intense and hilarious co-op possibilities for you and your friends. Ready Or Not is an incredible co-op experiencing, blending tough-as-nails encounters with hilarious co-op shenanigans and dynamic objectives. It isn’t nearly as much fun singleplayer, but it’s definitely just as tense.”

It’s sounding like folks are pretty impressed with VOID Interactive’s console conversion, then, following the game’s mega-success on PC in recent years. Ready or Not finally makes its Xbox debut tomorrow, July 15th.
