Ready Or Not is bringing its genuine SWAT-centered shooting to consoles this week, including an Xbox launch, which we’ve been eager to keep up with here at Pure Xbox.
Regrettably, we haven’t had the opportunity to compile a complete review for Ready or Not on the site, but several outlets are now sharing their insights on the console version ahead of its upcoming release. We’re here to collect some of those initial impressions, allowing you to gauge how Ready or Not performs on Xbox!
Here’s what the early reviews of Ready or Not for Xbox and PS5 are indicating:
PlayStation Lifestyle (9/10)
“The calculated, tactical gameplay showcases action-filled moments and some of the most unforgettable co-op gameplay you can experience. Unafraid to tackle content that most other shooters would avoid, this is a daring shooter that is as captivating as it is to engage with. Anyone seeking something different from typical FPS games should give it a try with pals.”
VideoGamer (8.5/10)
“If you’ve been on the hunt for a SWAT simulator for console—and based on the game’s acclaim on the PlayStation Store, many have—Ready or Not is truly top-notch. It could benefit from some refined controls overall, but VOID Interactive has excelled in making the game accessible to a broader audience, even though PC players may face some very minor drawbacks.”
Dualshockers (8/10)
“Ready or Not might occasionally lean into formula, yet so does police work. It’s the second police-themed game I’ve critiqued this year, but the first one I can wholeheartedly endorse. If you are here for the multiplayer, PC players may move at a pace that’s too fast for you, but you can simply switch off crossplay. The controls are user-friendly, the AI is generally straightforward to command aside from a bit of menu awkwardness, and the dystopian grit appears fantastic on a large TV. I will certainly return to playing the PC edition most frequently, but that doesn’t undermine Ready or Not from being the premier tactical shooter accessible on consoles currently.“
Game Rant (8/10)
“For those who consider Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 and SWAT 4 among the finest tactical shooters, playing Ready or Not feels like riding a bicycle. Even with the transition from PC to console, Ready or Not continues to rise to the top of the tactical shooter rankings available on PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, as there simply isn’t much else like it on the market.”
TheSixthAxis (8/10)
“These are minor imperfections, however, in what is otherwise an incredibly engaging and challenging co-op thrill ride. Ready or Not is an absolute joy, and the extensive variety of levels and equipment offers an array of both intense and comical co-op opportunities for you and your friends. Ready Or Not is an extraordinary co-op experience, fusing demanding encounters with amusing co-op antics and dynamic objectives. It isn’t nearly as enjoyable in single-player, but it’s certainly just as intense.”
It appears that individuals are quite impressed with VOID Interactive’s console adaptation, then, following the game’s massive success on PC in recent years. Ready or Not finally makes its Xbox premiere tomorrow, July 15th.
