Releasing for Xbox in a month
We’ve got a new Dying Light game coming to Xbox in a month! Dying Light: The Beast officially releases for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on August 22nd, and a bunch of hands-on previews have been going live on the web today.
And just to spoil it a bit for you – the critics seem very impressed with this one so far! Most of them have played around four hours of Dying Light: The Beast up to this point, with lots of positive impressions coming out of these previews.
Here’s what some of them are saying:
GamesRadar
“Dying Light: The Beast is exactly what I hoped it would be: a thrilling return for Kyle Crane, a nailbiting survival-action-horror adventure with just the right amount of novelty, and Techland at its technical finest as it drives the series toward an impressive, bloodsoaked future.”
IGN
“What makes Dying Light: The Beast work well, based on my limited time with it, is that it combines the best aspects of both the original and the first sequel. It adopts a more thoughtful approach to presenting its main narrative and characters from the second, while retaining the more confident and hard-hitting, tense action from the original.”
DualShockers
“All in all, Dying Light: The Beast feels like a U-turn in the best way possible, ditching Dying Light 2’s lackluster design for one that harks back to the horror-centric brilliance of the series’ original. The game looks the part, offering a gorgeous yet terrifying world to explore and conquer, and the game gives you ample destructive tools to make that a reality. Parkour remains as slick and fluid as ever, but the addition of rural areas adds an extra layer to the gameplay, and gunplay also gives you another way to get out of a bind when running isn’t an option.“
TechRaptor
“Overall, my time with Dying Light: The Beast was fun. If you’ve played any of the games, you can pick up a controller and understand it almost instantly. Although it feels similar to the first two Dying Light games, it captures the charm of what makes them so enjoyable while improving many core features that help take the game in a new direction.”
GameRant
“Four hours is not enough time to form strong conclusions on any game, much less one as layered as Dying Light: The Beast. But it is enough to understand why Techland is so excited about the title and why the company has occasionally referred to it as Dying Light 3. There’s something special happening in Castor Woods, and I can’t wait to go camping again in August.”
As you can see, Dying Light: The Beast sounds like a bit of a dream for fans of the series, which has suddenly got us a lot more excited for its release this August!
If you’re keen on picking this one up at launch, pre-orders are already available on the Xbox Store at a price of £59.99 / $69.99 (or a bit more for the Deluxe version), and we’ll throw more details about the game itself down below.
You are Kyle Crane. After being captured by the Baron and enduring his painful experiments for years, you escape. But the scars remain. Left on the edge of humanity with both human and zombie DNA, you struggle to control your inner beast and the conflict that comes with it. But you’ll need to, if you want to get your revenge on the man who did this to you. A unique blend of open world and action survival horror, Dying Light: The Beast is set in the beautiful, yet dangerous valley of Castor Woods that’s now overrun with zombies rather than tourists. To take your former captor down, you’ll need to form fragile alliances, as well as utilize all the combat and traversal options in your arsenal.
