The roster is 20 years old today!

The Xbox 360 is two decades old today, and we have some remarkable recollections of Microsoft’s second system from way back in 2005. The console was phenomenal (RROD notwithstanding), the controller was an impressive advancement of the original Xbox model – and overall, we were quite satisfied with the experience back in the day. Nonetheless, we wish to concentrate on the games here; which was your favorite Xbox 360 launch title from that era?
To be honest, it was a pretty impressive roster, especially for a console that launched a full year prior to its main rivals, the PS3 and Nintendo Wii. We had Call of Duty 2 marking a new phase for console shooters, and we had the criminally undervalued Condemned: Criminal Origins from Monolith and SEGA – while Microsoft themselves presented titles like Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, and Project Gotham Racing 3 on launch day.
From a personal viewpoint, it’s likely no shock that PGR3 is my choice – but opinions in the office differ! We’ve got some avid Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland enthusiasts here, while Ubisoft’s King Kong game also deserves an overlooked acknowledgment. EA Sports significantly contributed to the lineup as well, with multiple titles debuting on Microsoft’s November 22nd launch day.
So, which Xbox 360 launch game do you prefer? We are concentrating on the North American selection here, so one or two titles might surprise you if you’re from another region of the globe! However, the majority of the lineup was shared, and all of it debuted on that notable November 22nd, 2005 release date.
