Just like the previous year
This period last year, we presented a report about how simple 1000G achievements had unexpectedly been introduced to over 60 Xbox games, and remarkably, this same occurrence has re-emerged this year – but now it involves more than 100 Xbox games.
Thanks to True Achievements for identifying this, and they also maintain an extensive list of the over 100 games that have incorporated these achievements – many of which consist of three iterations of the same title across various platforms.

If we inspect one of these games closely, we can observe how uncomplicated these achievements are. Fall Asleep, for instance, has included achievements like eliminating 10 enemies, falling into lava, and smashing 20 boxes for 200G each. If you possess all three iterations of the game, there’s a potential 3000G available due to this latest complimentary update.
The reason for this occurrence, as we noted last year, is that developers and publishers have the permission to introduce achievements to their games totaling 1000G on a “semi-annual” basis (which spans from January to June and again from July to December). This evidently makes them more enticing to achievement hunters, while also annoying those who believe the system is being manipulated merely for the sake of adding trivial achievements.
Here’s a snippet of what Microsoft states regarding this:
“Titles are allowed to incorporate achievements or gamerscore at any time following launch, with or without accompanying new content, but they cannot surpass title-based or calendar-based limits.
A single achievement cannot exceed 200 gamerscore, and all achievements in the title must be attainable. Unlocking achievements in the base game or a content update must represent a thorough exploration of or engagement with game content.”
Various perspectives exist on whether this is beneficial or not, but a common request seems to pertain to “triple-stack” achievements – the capacity to earn additional gamerscore from titles that feature three identical versions.
As Microsoft places a significant emphasis on Xbox Play Anywhere nowadays, it appears somewhat unnecessary for so many of these titles to have distinct Xbox console and PC versions when they could be incorporated into the Play Anywhere initiative, so it will be intriguing to observe if Microsoft attempts to enforce this in the coming months and years.
