Arriving alongside the Overture DLC

There is still no announcement regarding the Lies of P “Overture” expansion at this moment, but we’ve been receiving more information about it over the last few days, in conjunction with an upcoming complimentary update for the core game that will provide players with fresh difficulty alternatives.

When this difficulty enhancement is released, Lies of P will introduce the new “Butterfly’s Guidance” and “Awakened Puppet” difficulty settings in addition to the standard one, which will be rebranded as “Legendary Stalker”. Even though these new settings are optional, the choice to include them has sparked debate among some fans – as illustrated below.

Ultimately, viewing the broader perspective, the majority of Lies of P enthusiasts appear satisfied with this development, noting that it is clearly an optional feature instead of being imposed on players – yet the decision certainly maintains its critics as well.

For what it’s worth, game director Jiwon Choi recently articulated the rationale behind the difficulty update to VGC:

“We aimed to ensure that a larger audience of gamers could engage with the game. Thus, by making adjustments in development and introducing these difficulty options, we can provide the experience to various types of players. This expands the base.”

Concerning Lies of P: Overture itself, we are now aware that it will span approximately 15-20 hours in duration and launch sometime this summer for $30, while a significant amount of new gameplay content has been unveiled which we will highlight below.

Our sister site Push Square has recently delved into some modifications coming to Lies of P: Overture in greater detail, while IGN’s preview characterized it as not “play[ing] with the formula too much”, but still adding some intriguing new elements.
