Predictably erratic

Recently, we provided a comparison for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 between Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and we weren’t particularly surprised to notice that the game operates quite well on both platforms.

Our main curiosity was regarding the Xbox One variant, as the original XB1 is now 12 years old and still receiving fresh titles like this, and unsurprisingly the experience is not ideal for playing Black Ops 7.

Thanks to Fuzion Xbox Testing on YouTube, we observe that the Xbox One S manages to reach 30 frames per second in Black Ops 7, but not significantly higher. It appears to peak around 45FPS at best, though to its credit, the visuals are fairly commendable for such an aged console. Certainly not awful, but clearly not comparable to current-generation systems.

The graphics are genuinely impressive on Xbox One X, but the frame rate struggles to maintain a steady 60FPS. Instead, it frequently dips to just above the 50FPS threshold, and can even drop to 30 frames per second at its lowest. This will create a choppy experience, although the visuals still look quite good for an outdated last-gen console.

You can form your own judgments about the Xbox One versions through the videos provided below, and we’re eager to offer some ROG Xbox Ally X insights shortly as well – so far, all indications suggest the game performs well on that device.

Just bear in mind that this Xbox One footage is merely a preliminary look at what to anticipate from Black Ops 7 on Xbox One, and we will need to wait a bit longer for a comprehensive review from experts like Digital Foundry in the days or weeks ahead.
