Here’s How The New Xbox Prices Compare To PS5 & Nintendo Switch 2

A significant leap

With both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S facing price hikes globally, the choice to purchase one has become a bit more difficult – after all, the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 present appealing alternatives as well.

We’ve conducted a quick comparison of how Xbox measures up against Sony and Nintendo’s latest offerings, and the findings are quite intriguing. The Xbox Series S continues to be the most affordable entry into next-gen gaming, but the Switch 2 is now not far behind, while the Xbox Series X is, in some areas, priced higher than the PS5.

Below is a comparison of prices for Xbox Series, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2 across four key regions:

Console UK Price US Price EU Price AUD Price
Xbox Series S – 512GB £299.99 $379.99 €349.99 $549.00
Xbox Series S – 1TB £349.99 $429.99 €399.99 $599.00
Nintendo Switch 2 £395.99 $449.99 €469.99 $699.95
PlayStation 5 Digital £429.99 $449.99 €499.99 $749.95
Xbox Series X Digital £449.99 $549.99 €549.99 $749.00
PlayStation 5 £479.99 $499.99 €549.99 $829.95
Xbox Series X £499.99 $599.99 €599.99 $849.00
Xbox Series X – 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition £589.99 $729.99 €699.99 $1,049.00
PlayStation 5 Pro £699.99 $699.99 €799.99 $1,199.95

Naturally, we have a preference for the Xbox Series X and S as the premier options for experiencing current-gen gaming despite the recent price increases. Nevertheless, with Xbox continuing to launch more first-party titles on other platforms, we understand why some might argue that acquiring a PS5 is a considerable choice for enjoying certain Xbox games.

Xbox Game Pass stands out as a significant advantage for Xbox, particularly given that some first-party games will soon be priced at $80. While you may spend slightly less on a PS5 compared to an Xbox Series X, or get a new Switch 2 for just a bit more than an Xbox Series S, if you aim to enjoy any Xbox first-party games on those consoles, it could become costly – unless waiting for substantial discounts fits your plans.

So, what are your thoughts on these prices? Do you believe Xbox remains the best value for your money? Share your opinions in the comments below.
