Here’s An Extended Look At Mafia: The Old Country Ahead Of Next Month’s Xbox Release

Arriving on Xbox in under a month’s duration!

Several months prior, 2K and the developer Hangar 13 ultimately revealed Mafia: The Old Country footage in what appears to be a rather brief preview cycle for the game – and now thanks to IGN, we possess a more detailed, nearly 10-minute insight into gameplay from the team’s forthcoming Mafia prequel.

Consequently, we’ve placed that recent footage above for you all to observe. The clip features a great combination of driving, combat, and action sequences – interwoven with some of that robust voice and cutscene craftsmanship that the Mafia franchise is renowned for. This is all derived from the ‘Villa’ segment of Mafia: The Old Country’s fifth chapter.

“Experience nine minutes of exclusive gameplay from the ‘Villa’ portion in Chapter 5 of Mafia: The Old Country, the upcoming narrative-focused action-adventure prequel in the Mafia franchise, set in early-1900s Sicily. Stay tuned every Monday in July for IGN’s Mafia Mondays, where exclusive content from The Old Country will be available, including the world’s first hands-on preview next week.”

We’re eagerly anticipating that hands-on preview previously mentioned up above, as we truly have no idea what to expect from this new chapter of the Mafia narrative. 2K is offering this as somewhat of a budget release here in 2025 — priced at just £45 / $50 for the base game — and the team has verified that the title is not open world either, which is significantly different from the structure of 2016’s Mafia 3.

Apart from that preview, and likely more to come from various outlets, you don’t have to wait long to try this game on your own. Mafia: The Old Country arrives on Xbox Series X|S in merely a few weeks’ time – on August 8th, 2025, to be precise.
