No. 4 on the Newzoo charts
- by Ben Kerry
At the beginning of the month, sales data coming from Alinea Analytics suggested that Helldivers 2 had a great launch on Xbox platforms in August – and new stats from data firm Newzoo are now backing that up.
As shared by the folks over at GamesIndustry.biz, Helldivers 2 was number 4 in games revenue for the month of August, covering the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy regions. This was of course propelled by the game’s Xbox launch, which landed on August 26th.
Here’s the top 20 list for PC and consoles across those regions (by revenue):
Rank | Last month Rank | Title |
---|---|---|
1 | 1 | Fortnite |
2 | NEW | EA Sports Madden NFL 26 |
3 | 4 | Counter-Strike 2 & Go |
4 | 37 | Helldivers 2 |
5 | 7 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2/3/Warzone/Black Ops 6 |
6 | NEW | Mafia: The Old Country |
7 | 3 | Ready or Not |
8 | 20 | World of Warcraft |
9 | 12 | Roblox |
10 | 13 | Minecraft |
11 | 5 | EA Sports FC 25 |
12 | 14 | League of Legends |
13 | 15 | Valorant |
14 | 9 | Marvel Rivals |
15 | NEW | Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater |
16 | 8 | The Sims 4 |
17 | 2 | EA Sports College Football 26 |
18 | 16 | Grand Theft Auto 5 |
19 | 26 | Apex Legends |
20 | 18 | Dead by Daylight |
Newzoo says that this charting led to a “substantial uplift” in revenue for the Sony shooter, which also came in at number 13 in terms of overall engagement across those platforms and regions last month. If you specify that to just Xbox, its position climbs to number 11.
This all sounds like good news not only for Helldivers 2, but also for more potential PlayStation ports in future. Sure, we’re still expecting Sony to be more reserved than Microsoft in this area, but Helldivers 2 doing so well on Xbox can only be promising news for players on the Microsoft platform.
