It has turned out wonderfully for all parties involved
Sony’s initiative to introduce Helldivers 2 to Xbox has certainly proven to be successful, with the firm emphasizing earlier this week how the game was performing “extremely well”, largely due to its debut on the Xbox Series X and S.
Arrowhead Game Studios has consistently maintained that this choice was unrelated to them, but during a recent episode of The Game Business Podcast, CEO Shams Jorjani expressed that it has turned out wonderfully for his team and that players are “content” because they’ve been “provided with what they desire”.
Here’s a segment from the discussion:
“For us, it made a lot of sense, and players have been yearning for Xbox since the very beginning.”
“It has gone exceptionally well; we synchronized it with the launch of some Halo ODST content which was another highly requested fan feature. And it appears, if you cater to the players’ desires, they will be satisfied.”
The team at Sony hasn’t revealed too much regarding Helldivers 2’s achievements on Xbox, but recent reports indicate it performed very well upon release in August, and it suggests positive prospects for additional first-party PS5 games joining Xbox in the future.
As for Arrowhead, the studio is reportedly developing a new co-op action game that is expected to arrive on Xbox upon its release, as Sony will not be involved in publishing that particular title. Good news for us!
