If you haven’t seen the news yet, Helldivers 2 is officially set to debut on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S this August, and there are many who are curious whether it will allow crossplay and cross-progression upon launch.
Let’s kick off with the positive news! Helldivers 2 is officially incorporating crossplay on Xbox, allowing you to join forces with PS5 and PC gamers as well. This was verified by Xbox Wire earlier today:
“With cross play accessible on all platforms, prepare to bolster our ranks.”
Now, regarding cross-progression? Currently, we don’t believe Helldivers 2 will support cross-progression on Xbox. It hasn’t been referenced in any promotional materials thus far, although it’s still quite early.
The primary reason we doubt it’s occurring is the absence of cross-progression between the PS5 and PC iterations of the game as well. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the developer is addressing this behind the scenes, possibly gearing it up for the Xbox release in August… but we’re more inclined to wager it’s either not on the horizon for a while, or may not happen at all.
It would be disappointing if we miss out on this, but at least crossplay is available – and until a few hours ago, even the notion of Helldivers 2 arriving on Xbox seemed absurd! We’ve elaborated on this further in other articles, which you can explore below.
