By “We’ll dictate 100% of those moves”

It’s widely recognized that Helldivers 2 has been an incredible success since its debut just over a year ago on PlayStation and PC. This triumph has even prompted fan petitions advocating for its arrival on Xbox, and although that appears unlikely at this moment – it seems the team’s forthcoming project stands a greater chance of transitioning.
Captured by Forbes this week, Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead has shared some intriguing insights regarding their approach to releasing the next title. Notably, this upcoming endeavor “is fully financed by us”, granting them the power to dictate “100% of those decisions” concerning the release.
This insight was communicated on Discord by Arrowhead’s Shams Jorjani, who also contributed this to the exchange:
“The amazing thing is that, due to your incredible support, Arrowhead’s future looks very promising, and we have the liberty to experiment with some genuinely exciting ideas that we couldn’t have explored otherwise. Game 6 (our forthcoming venture) will unfold in its own way, thanks to you.”
That being said, the Arrowhead developer also wanted to emphasize that “PlayStation are fantastic” and the team remains “open to collaborating with them again down the line”. Therefore, we’ll have to wait and see what transpires – however, the studio appears capable of making that choice independently due to the success of Helldivers 2.
Development of ‘Game 6’ is currently in progress to some extent, but it is likely unwise to anticipate Arrowhead’s next title anytime soon. They still seem to be in the concept exploration phase, and given that nine years separated the initial two Helldivers installments, we may need to practice some patience for what follows.
