ESRB rating discloses everything

After the announcement of Hellblade 2‘s improved edition debuting alongside a PS5 version, the ESRB has this week announced a physical release for the Ninja Theory game – yet Microsoft isn’t identified as the game’s publisher this time around.
Indeed, Limited Run Games will serve as the publisher for Hellblade 2 on disc – for both Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. You might recall that in 2024, Microsoft chose not to pursue any kind of physical release for Hellblade 2, which contributed to the game being priced lower on the Xbox digital marketplace.
This new ESRB rating does not specify a particular release date for the physical version of Hellblade 2, but it shouldn’t be too distant at this stage. Ninja Theory recently announced that the enhanced edition is slated for this summer, and these ratings usually appear a few weeks to months ahead of launch – which all aligns quite well.
We’ll have to see just how limited this physical release of Hellblade 2 becomes, but it’s encouraging to at least see Xbox Series X|S included here. We’ve noticed these types of publishers skip Xbox recently, but that’s not the case here – suggesting Xbox enthusiasts who were let down by Microsoft’s decision to forgo a physical release for this title can amend that this year.
