“If my information and proof are accurate”
It’s no mystery that the team at Halo Studios appears to be creating a new iteration of Halo: Combat Evolved set to launch next year, and a specific Halo journalist believes they know precisely who’s involved in its development.
This journalist is identified as Rebs Gaming, who has investigated the matter and found that Abstraction – a studio purchased by Virtuos at the close of 2024 – is reportedly collaborating on the initiative with Halo Studios.
For those unacquainted, Virtuos was engaged in developing Oblivion Remastered as well.
“If my information and proof are accurate, Abstraction, which was acquired by Virtuos in December 2024 and developed features for Halo MCC between 2021-2022, is crafting the Halo CE Remake.”
The online data I discovered: Abstraction’s website features Halo Studios as a collaborator. The LinkedIn page of an Abstraction developer, who previously worked at Bungie as a Halo 2 level designer, indicates they are creating campaign missions for a notable AAA title.”
One aspect that remains uncertain is whether this is a “remake” or a “remaster.” Various reporters have labeled it differently, and let’s not forget that a similar situation arose with Oblivion Remastered – many referred to it as a “remake” prior to its official announcement.
We believe it’ll lean more towards a “remaster,” but who can say – we should hopefully get confirmation at the Halo World Championships in late October, when Halo Studios is anticipated to unveil the game (and possibly multiple titles!).
