It’s confirmed, a Halo: Combat Evolved adaptation is on the way in 2026! Indeed, as part of today’s Halo World Championship event, the newly-named Halo Studios has revealed its inaugural project – titled Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a “devoted yet contemporary reimagining of Halo: Combat Evolved’s campaign”, boasting “high-definition graphics, refreshed cinematics, and improved controls”. Moreover, this enhanced iteration of the original Halo will introduce some fresh elements, through “three entirely new prequel missions featuring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson”.
“Explore the original narrative reconstructed with high-definition graphics, refreshed cinematics, and improved controls, alongside three entirely new prequel missions starring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson. An expanded arsenal of weapons, vehicles, foes, and gameplay-altering “Skulls” – optional modifiers that transform combat in enjoyable and challenging manners – provide new strategies and limitless replay value.”
As indicated by the official title, this new Halo adaptation is exclusively single-player campaign content – there will be no multiplayer aspect to this release. We don’t yet have a specific launch date for the title, apart from confirming it will arrive on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 at some point next year.
We’re excited to drop a selection of screenshots from Halo: Campaign Evolved below, along with a trailer for the game’s remade The Silent Cartographer level:
