Early revenue & user counts roll in

The newest first-party title from Microsoft, Grounded 2, dropped during the final stretch of July on Xbox and PC — Game Pass included — and preliminary metrics indicate Obsidian & co. may have another Early Access hit on their hands.
For starters, Klobrille highlights that the title has slipped into the top-ten most active titles on Xbox, presently holding eighth place in the US and tenth in the UK. Naturally, Game Pass is likely turbo-charging this initial uptake on the Xbox ecosystem.
Venturing over to Alinea Analytics, the data-shop fleshes out the picture with more specifics. According to the outfit, the game also sneaked into the top-ten chart for total installs spanning Xbox, PlayStation and Steam (bear in mind it hasn’t landed on PS5 yet), pegged at number 10 with 1.9 million grabs during the first 72 hours. On Steam alone, Alinea pins sales at 600,000 copies so far — reportedly 25 % higher than the predecessor Grounded managed over an equivalent window.
What this all signals is a largely bullish Early Access debut for Grounded 2, welcome tidings for everyone at Obsidian. Xbox marketed it relatively quietly, yet the release should keep swelling as new mechanics arrive and the studio presses toward the eventual v1.0 milestone sometime down the road.
