Discovered on Steam

At the beginning of this month, Microsoft formally revealed Gears of War: Reloaded for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PS5 – with the complete game set to launch in just a few months, specifically in August 2025. Nevertheless, the team seems to have the opportunity to incorporate a pre-launch beta for the game – at least, that’s what a recent Steam database listing indicates.
Found online and recently publicized on Reddit, a beta page has surfaced for Gears of War: Reloaded. The game is currently categorized as ‘PenPL’ following a recent update – but the application type states ‘Beta’, with the main application acknowledged as Gears of War: Reloaded at this moment.
The Steam database listing does not convey any details about a release date for this Gears beta, but we would anticipate it to materialize fairly soon. As we highlighted earlier, the complete game is set to release in approximately three months – hence, one would expect a beta to arrive rather quickly to ensure everything is in order for that August launch. Could we see an Xbox Games Showcase surprise drop? It’s certainly a possibility!
Regarding the features of this beta, well, Gears: Reloaded is essentially Gears of War: Ultimate Edition with a new visual upgrade – so Xbox players should have an idea of what to expect here. The availability of this beta is likely to assess the game’s console cross-play capabilities more than anything else, with the series making its PS5 entrance through this release.
