Frostpunk 2 bowed to fantastic critical praise when it debuted on PC Game Pass last September, and developers 11 Bit Studios have now revealed that the console edition will land almost precisely one year after—also coming to Xbox Game Pass.
Indeed, the frosty city-builder surfaces on consoles beginning September 18th, 2025, Xbox Series X|S included. We’ve embedded the brand-new console date trailer above; here’s a glimpse of what awaits you in Frostpunk 2 when it joins XGP:
“Frostpunk 2 pushes the city-survival template further than ever. Assume the mantle of Steward and shepherd your settlement through relentless disasters in a post-apocalyptic, frozen wasteland. Construct sprawling districts whose appetites seem limitless, while mediating the clash of factions vying for influence within your city. As escalating needs collide with rising political power, only you can decide the society’s course toward an uncertain tomorrow.”
As noted earlier, Frostpunk 2 hit a lofty Metacritic mean of 85 at its PC debut. With roughly a year of extra polish, here’s hoping the Xbox port reaches the same heights.
Hungry for more Frostpunk? A fresh instalment in the franchise was just announced. Frostpunk 1886, a reimagining of the 2018 original, is targeting a 2027 release—complete with an Xbox edition built in Unreal Engine 5.
