Feature: Six New Improvements Revealed For ROG Xbox Ally, With Lots More To Come In 2026

“This is merely the outset.”

Today, Team Xbox has spotlighted a significant new optimization feature for the ROG Xbox Ally known as “Default Game Profiles”, but this is certainly not the sole enhancement recently introduced to the handheld device(s).

Alongside various upgrades rolled out last week by ASUS, Xbox has underscored additional improvements made from a software standpoint, aimed at enhancing the Ally’s user experience.

The six enhancements include:

  • Default Game Profiles for over 40 titles at launch
  • Enhanced Gamepad responsiveness following login
  • Faster Library loading, particularly for users with extensive game collections
  • Boosted Cloud Gaming page performance, loading swiftly and more responsively
  • New Game Gallery filter by Performance Fit, aiding users in assessing how well games perform on their devices
  • Bug fixes and performance upgrades for better stability and responsiveness

In addition, there is evidently much more on the horizon for 2026 in terms of ROG Xbox Ally enhancements, featuring more substantial features like Automatic Super Resolution (Auto SR) and Highlight Reels slated for early next year.

It has also been noted that Xbox is diligently working on the “sleep and wake reliability” of the device(s), which has had inconsistent performance since launch, along with “enhanced formatting options for microSD cards”. We’ve previously learned that enhancements to the docking experience are also in the pipeline shortly.

“This is merely the outset. We’re continuously attuning our ears to your feedback and eager to roll out even more new features and options that enhance the handheld experience.”

All of this is undoubtedly wonderful to witness if you’re a ROG Xbox Ally owner, and it wouldn’t astonish us if much of it is paving the way for the next Xbox console as well – there might be considerable overlap between the two devices in the years ahead!
