Baldur’s Gate 3’s Latest Update Targets Various Xbox-Specific Issues

“Remedies for certain game crashes that had been bothering everyone”

We rarely spotlight individual Baldur’s Gate 3 patches nowadays over at Pure Xbox, yet this freshly-dropped hotfix is worth highlighting since several of the tweaks are aimed squarely at the Xbox build.

The console release has had a rougher road in the past—that save-deletion headache at launch immediately springs to mind—and the newest round of corrections deals with crashes tied to Quick Resume and level-up sequences.

An additional note claims the team “addressed a fault that was blocking savegame loads triggered by corrupted data,” though, curiously, Xbox isn’t singled out in the wording, leaving the affected platforms ambiguous.

With that preamble out of the way, here are the full notes for Baldur’s Gate 3 Hotfix #33.

FIXES

EULA

Modding

  • The timeout buffer used when publishing super-sized mods has been boosted, cutting down on the dreaded “A task was cancelled” hiccup.

Crashes and Performance

  • Eliminated a potential crash tied to selecting the Set Slot command in the radial menu.
  • Knocked out another combat-related crash possibility.
  • Dealt with a crash that might fire after flunking a specific Arcana check in Moonrise Towers.
  • Squashed a bug that could lock the entire screen when you hover over skills on the Action Radial Menu.
  • Smoother UI behaviour on controllers once the FPS dips under 75.
  • Evicted a lengthy freeze that occasionally hit Xbox users during level-up.
  • Another trade-window crash fixed.
  • Resolved a crash on Xbox when resuming play after suspension.
  • Irons out a crash risk on Xbox at the “Press A to continue” prompt.
  • Mended a fault that kept you from launching savegames thanks to corrupted data.

Gameplay

  • Laid to rest a split-screen soft-lock: if Player Two disconnects mid-dialogue while Player One is mid-dice-roll, Player One will no longer stay frozen in that scene.
  • Stopped Lunar Vitality from endlessly adding and dumping itself on any character basking in Starry Form.
  • Shadow Curse should quit rapidly toggling itself on and off when a druid’s only light source is their Starry Form.
  • Corrected the private dialogue toggle in multiplayer; on controller UI it now actually flips between on and off.
  • Politely informed our beloved memory-wiped Dark Urge to quit referencing “the old home turf” and dropping spoiler-worthy chatter about “father” in their overhead lines.
  • Rage-induced Wild Magic effects will no longer vanish after you hit Level 9.
  • Hexblade warlocks can now trigger Accursed Spectre and Armour of Hexes reactions even after Polymorph is dispelled.
  • Crawling Claws now deal their bonus necrotic harm only upon scoring a hit, not on whiffs.
  • Rare mouse-input lockout that followed certain dialogues has been blocked.
  • Bulldozed Xbox Guide issues preventing party invites or joining cross-play lobbies.
  • Killed a bug that stopped you from entering a regular platform lobby via direct invite after a cross-play session.

Photo Mode

  • The Highlights slider now responds properly with controllers in Photo Mode.

UI and Tooltips

  • The elusive “weird character portraits” nuisance has—honestly, for real this time—been laid to rest.
  • A typo in the Giant’s Rage tooltip claiming the wrong damage bonus has been sorted.
  • Scrolling the Mod Details page on controller no longer proceeds at tortoise speed.
  • A few missing Bardic Inspiration passive icons are back in place.
  • The Donate panel’s “Consumable Items” section now lets you offer stacks rather than single items only.

Art and Animation

  • Handsome chain-mail-clad male dwarves change into the Gloves of Power without their wrists turning to Stretch Armstrong.
  • The Help emote for Ranger Companions has been pulled back from visual oblivion.
