After dedicating 11 years at Obsidian
A significant exit has occurred within the team at Obsidian Entertainment, as Avowed game director Carrie Patel revealed on LinkedIn her recent transition to Night School: A Netflix Game Studio as of this month.
Patel spent 11 years and 7 months at Obsidian, making contributions to not only Avowed but also The Outer Worlds (serving as a senior narrative designer) and both Pillars of Eternity titles as a narrative designer.
Earlier today, she simply conveyed her joy in announcing her new role at Netflix:
“I’m pleased to share that I’m commencing a new role as Game Director at Night School: A Netflix Game Studio!”
Night School, as you may know, was the creative force behind the two Oxenfree games and Afterparty, initially functioning as an independent studio before being acquired by Netflix in September 2021.
It remains uncertain what Patel will be developing at Night School, but we are definitely curious to see what the developer team creates next! On behalf of everyone at Pure Xbox, we wish her the utmost success in this new chapter.
