“A devoted reimagining of the second installment”

It was just over a year ago that Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged launched for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, so it is logical that the second installment is also receiving similar treatment shortly!

This new title is officially named Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged, and it’s described as a “dedicated reimagining” of 1997’s Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror. Highlights include enhanced high-definition graphics with “sharp” audio for the first time, the capability to switch between original and updated versions of the game seamlessly, and a choice to select a “story mode” that offers hints and alleviates the challenges that some players may face with traditional point-and-click adventures.

Here’s what the CEO of Revolution Software expressed regarding today’s announcement:

The Smoking Mirror has consistently been one of our most cherished titles, and with Reforged we could upgrade it in ways that honor the original while making it appealing for contemporary audiences. Just like the first title, we eagerly anticipate players, both old and new, reliving the experience.”

There isn’t an official launch date for Broken Sword – The Smoking Mirror: Reforged as of now, but we are aware that it is undoubtedly arriving on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, with an early 2026 target release.

Moreover, if you’re interested in obtaining a Collector’s Edition (and perhaps some additional perks?), the team will soon initiate a Kickstarter project to assist with that.

We’ll conclude with some official visuals from the game below.
