Xbox Wraps Up February with an Exciting Lineup of Free Games, Trials, and Demos
As you may know, we’re always on the lookout for the latest ‘free’ content arriving on the Xbox Store, and there’s certainly a lot happening at the moment – a brand new free-to-play game as well as free demos and trials, including a major free alpha!
We’re going to start by grouping the free-to-play title with the free demos. This is because we’ve actually seen a remarkable amount this month, with six new demos since we last pointed them out here at Pure Xbox. For good measure, we’ll include all of February’s demos here since there’s some incredible content you might have overlooked this month.
The free-to-play game is called Spectre Divide, and it’s a 3v3 tactical shooter where you can control two distinct characters in real-time. The trailer looks pretty impressive, and the screenshots are appealing, so it definitely seems worth checking out!
Spectre Divide (February 25, 2025) – Free-To-Play Release
Spectre Divide is a groundbreaking 3v3 tactical shooter developed by Duality. Use Duality to control two characters in real-time, allowing you to defend two locations simultaneously, cover your own position, or even trade places. Master tactical shooting and a suite of futuristic technology to become infamous.

Next, we want to remind you about the free trial for Deadside, which is a game that just shadow dropped on Xbox. The trial for Deadside allows you to explore the full game for a limited time and is available through its dedicated store page.
Another free game/trial worth mentioning is the Splitgate 2 Alpha, running from February 27 to March 3. The launch time for this is 9am PT / 12pm ET / 5pm GMT on Xbox Series X and S, meaning it’s live now (unless you’re reading this very late!).
As you might expect, it’s a free alpha that is downloadable via the Xbox Store, featuring multiple modes to experience prior to the game’s full free-to-play launch later this year. Here’s a little more about it:
“This is your first opportunity to experience our new Multi-Team Portal Warfare, with 8v8v8 battles of epic scale set on a vast map. Additionally, we have new arena maps, new weapons, new gear, and countless improvements based on community feedback. Anyone with a Steam account, a PS5, or an Xbox Series X|S can download and play—for free, as always.”
We should be receiving a free beta for timed Xbox exclusive Mecha Fracture in February as well; however, unfortunately, the developer has encountered issues with the Xbox version – they have stated that an update will be provided as soon as possible.
If that beta goes live before the month concludes, we’ll revise this text and ensure to keep you informed. Stay tuned on that front!
Splitgate 2 (February 27, 2025) – Free Alpha Test / Trial
