The website VGChartz has released its latest sales estimates for next-generation gaming consoles, shedding light on Microsoft’s Xbox Series X|S performance toward the end of 2024.
During November of the previous year, data indicate that the Series X and S sold 767,118 units, compared to 4,120,898 for PS5, and 1,715,636 for Nintendo Switch. This means that the total lifetime sales for the Xbox Series X|S now stand at 31,208,651 as of the end of November 2024.
Interestingly, VGChartz also compares how Microsoft’s current console lineup is performing against its predecessor, the Xbox One. Back in November 2017, when Xbox One was also four years into its lifespan, Microsoft was selling approximately 2.3 million consoles – indicating that Xbox Series X|S is hitting about one third of the sales rate of Xbox One during its fourth year in the market.
This aligns with information we’ve been receiving from Microsoft as well as various analysts as we move toward the latter half of this console generation. It’s important to note that VGChartz clearly states these figures are estimates; they are likely accurate within 10% of the actual numbers.
