Xbox ‘Investigating’ Experiences Of Laggy Media Apps After Prolonged Playback

Xbox Probing Lag Issues in Streaming Apps Following Extended Use

There exists an alternative if you need it

An Xbox console serves as more than just a gaming device (as Don Matrick attempted to make clear a decade ago) and many users spend numerous hours viewing content on it, so ideally we want our TV applications to function flawlessly at all times.

Usually, this is the case, but Xbox is currently looking into an issue that causes applications to become sluggish after prolonged use. There is no information regarding how many individuals have been affected, other than a note that only a “small” number of reports have been submitted, yet we’ve seen a few mentions of the problem online:

Here is the official statement from Team Xbox regarding this issue, shared with Alpha Xbox Insiders last week:

“We are investigating a small number of reports regarding certain media applications becoming sluggish after prolonged use. Alternative Solution: Switching to a game and then returning to the media application or closing and restarting the app will resolve the issue.”

It’s important to note that this is different from the usual lag that applications typically experience, such as general navigation issues and slow load times. This specific issue pertains to lag that occurs after an extended viewing period.

In any case, we’re simply bringing this to your attention if you happen to encounter it – it has nothing to do with your TV or any settings you may have altered, but rather an underlying glitch that Xbox is actively working to resolve as we speak!
