“We desire every game to have an opportunity”

The ID@Xbox initiative has become an exciting way for Xbox enthusiasts to explore the most recent and greatest indie titles over time, and it has reached a point where numerous games are launching every month as part of this program.

ID@Xbox director Guy Richards was questioned about this in a recent interview with Game Rant, where he explained that introducing “more games” to the platform is not only beneficial for the brand but also for the players.

Q: As you noted, many games are released daily. How do you view this overwhelming number of games?

A: Great question. We believe that an increase in games is the right move for the platform and for gamers. We want every game to have a chance. ID@Xbox focuses on presenting a wide range of new experiences to the platform. I think, whenever you look at the showcases we have conducted and what we’re doing, it’s clear that we feature games from various genres, developed by creators from diverse backgrounds, and different art styles. We truly want that rich mix of content to be part of the platform and enhance the gamer experience. There is a game for everyone on Xbox.

What’s notable here is that it sparks discussions about the recent dialogues related to store curation across Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo systems, with Xbox being praised for dedicating “a significant amount of effort” to this area.

However, if you delve into some of the reactions surrounding this story, there are certainly some Xbox fans who dislike the idea of flooding the platform with “more games” – suggesting that some low-quality efforts have slipped through:

It’s true that the occasional subpar title does seem to make its way onto Xbox, but for the majority, we have been impressed with the store curation over the past few years. Much of this success is credited to the work of the ID@Xbox team.

This also gives us a great opportunity to discuss the topic in the comments below! Do you agree with the notion that “more games” can be advantageous?
