
World of Warcraft’s newest raid escape ends in disappointment after 12 days with a final boss so lackluster the crew who won was visibly at a loss for words to maintain beaten it
Group Liquid has secured the World First completion for World of Warcraft’s latest Mythic raid, but that achievement arrived with such an unexpected outcome that several members of the team appeared confused about whether they had truly succeeded.
Season 2 of The War Within commenced on March 4, initiating the race for World First in the Mythic tier of the Liberation of Undermine raid. During the following weeks, numerous teams achieved World First clearances of the raid’s various segments – Melee Mechanics, Sure, Fast Bucks, and Echo all reported early successes – yet it was Group Liquid that ultimately took the lead amidst the competition.

Following intensely fought battles against numerous early bosses in the raid, Group Liquid ultimately triumphed over Chrome King Gallywix after exactly 100 attempts. The outcome was particularly disheartening since Liquid’s previous attempt had only managed to reduce the boss’s health to 14%, and everyone anticipated some final twist – perhaps new mechanics or an additional secret phase – to heighten the tension of the final encounter.
However, there was no such twist. Various recordings of the conclusion revealed many team members celebrating their World First achievement, yet several Liquid players were equally baffled in that moment. You can observe team GM Maximum throwing his hands up in confusion. You can see imexile raising his hands and asking, “that’s the boss?” You might even notice Thdlock expressing his bewilderment and asking, simply, “what?!”
In all seriousness, good games. The final boss was somewhat of a letdown mechanically, but I’m proud of how we performed against the previous few bosses as a guild. Onward and upward, let’s goooMarch 16, 2025
No doubt they intended for the next end boss to be more complex than Gallywix. It was definitely a fun encounter, especially progressing against a boss without a dungeon journal.March 16, 2025
