“Warner Bros Games Montreal Shakes Things Up: 99 Positions Open for Talented Creatives”
“I feel as though the organization has just shattered 99 lives,” admitted a source distressed by the layoffs.
Nearly 100 employees were terminated from Warner Games Montreal.
According to Radio-Canada (credit to Game Developer), on the same day Rocksteady Studios announced it was ceasing development on Suicide Squad less than a year after its release (December 9), employees were summoned to a video conference where 99 individuals at WB Games Montreal were informed they had been laid off with eight weeks of notice.
It’s believed that the layoffs primarily affected contractors associated with the Keywords QA team, with those impacted given the option to either be placed on a list for potential rehire—which reportedly would not occur until 2026—or to consult with a counselor for help in finding new employment.
“I feel anxious and despondent. I feel as if the organization has just devastated 99 lives,” an anonymous insider told Radio-Canada.
Others highlighted that during the company’s recent biannual meeting in the summer, there was no mention of job cuts.
