Have you ever imagined what it would be like if Steven Spielberg’s film Minority Report was transformed into an anime? Although that never officially came to fruition, Psycho-Pass has quite a bit in common with the 2002 sci-fi movie. Seasons 1 and 2 were recently launched on Blu-ray, but you may want to consider adding it to your collection now that Walmart has an exclusive box set available at a significantly lower price. Psycho-Pass: Seasons 1 + 2 Blu-ray Box Set can be preordered for $40 at Walmart and will be released on February 4.

Walmart’s exclusive box set is remarkably cheaper compared to the individual seasons that were released on Blu-ray on November 5.

Psycho-Pass Season 1 has a retail price of $60 and is currently available for $41.47 on Amazon. Meanwhile, Psycho-Pass Season 2 is priced at $40 and is on sale for $32.84 at Amazon. Thus, even with Amazon’s considerable discounts, you would still spend $74.31 on Seasons 1 and 2 combined.

Unless you truly wish to experience the anime on Blu-ray immediately, or if you’re looking for a present for the holidays, it may be wiser to pre-order the box set from Walmart and wait until February 4.

The Blu-ray box set includes the following special features:

  • Trailers
  • Season 1 Audio Commentaries: Episodes 5, 11, 13, 18
  • Season 2 Audio Commentaries: Episodes 4, 8, 10
  • Sakura-Con Features 1 & 2
  • Textless opening and ending themes

Psycho-Pass premiered in 2012 with a 22-episode inaugural season. Psycho-Pass 2, now recognized as Season 2, aired for 11 episodes in 2014. The well-received anime made a comeback in 2019 with an eight-episode segment. Psycho-Pass has also been adapted into two films. The main film, released in 2015, is currently discounted for a limited time on Amazon. You can grab the Blu-ray edition of Psycho-Pass: The Movie for $23 (was $35). Psycho-Pass: Providence launched in 2023 and received outstanding reviews. The Blu-ray edition of Providence is available for $29 (was $40) on Amazon.

Psycho-Pass has been celebrated for its high-caliber animation and well-constructed dystopian narrative.

Set in a future iteration of Japan, Psycho-Pass narrates the tale of a sophisticated system where even the inclination towards crime can put you on the radar of a specialized taskforce. Due to a computer network that continuously observes the biometrics of every citizen, law enforcement can prevent crimes before they occur by targeting individuals with a high “Crime Coefficient” that assesses their potential to violate the law. To make matters even more captivating, inspectors responsible for apprehending pre-crime suspects are accompanied by Enforcers—potential criminals who serve as bodyguards—while both roles wield a “Dominator” weapon that can only discharge when authorized by the Sibyl System.

Another prominent anime on sale—featuring the word “Psycho” in its title—is Mob Psycho 100. Amazon has reduced prices for the complete anime series across its three box sets, and if you’re searching for a touching narrative with stunning animation, this anime will not let you down. These deals are time-sensitive, so once they reach their sales limit, the promotion will conclude. It’s the story of a boy with god-like psychic abilities who yearns to lead a normal life amidst a city filled with malevolent spirits and clairvoyants with world domination aspirations.
