The source code will additionally be made available
The Big Mario 64 GBA project by developer Joshua Barretto continues to progress, with the latest presentation showcasing a demonstration of the game functioning on “actual hardware.”
Indeed, following persistent requests from fans to see the game in action on a genuine Game Boy Advance, Barretto has now posted video clips of this, also showing how precisely the controls, movements, and attacks operate on the 32-bit system.
Barretto has also responded to inquiries regarding public release possibilities. Since the assets stem from Nintendo’s intellectual properties, this project may never be available for download. However, the source code is likely to be released.
“I can’t publicly distribute the ROM… Both the code and the gameplay mode are completely original, so eventually I’ll be able to provide you all with the next best thing – the source code to experiment with and alter to your heart’s desire. I’m eager to see how people will utilize it.”
The most recent video update also highlights various improvements such as level segmentation, enemy interactions, enhanced animations, and much more.
