Today is a significant day for Call of Duty, as the new Squid Game collaboration launches on January 3, coupled with a major update across Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Activision has released the complete patch notes, outlining all primary changes and enhancements—and there are numerous.

In Black Ops 6, Zombies, and Warzone, all mantle speeds have been accelerated, and doors can now be opened and closed while sprinting. Moreover, the Cleaver melee weapon is now available for unlocking through the new Squid Game match reward in the current season pass, which costs 1,100 COD Points for the premium tier.

Furthermore, Activision cautioned that some players might find their Operator selections and customizations reset with this latest update. They did not specify the reason for this occurrence or what players can do other than essentially starting anew.

Several new Squid Game-themed multiplayer modes are currently available in Black Ops 6, including Red Light, Green Light, and a mode named Roulette Handgun. This mode allows players to craft a highly dangerous handgun that comes with the risk of eliminating the player, as each shot carries the possibility of the weapon exploding.

There are no adjustments to weapon balance, but Black Ops 6’s Scorestreaks are receiving tuning updates. This includes a reduction in max damage for the RC-XD, and Care Packages will now hold fewer Scout Pulses. Conversely, the Sentry Turret is seeing enhancements to its HP and firing rate, while the Watchdog Helo’s damage has also been increased.

In Zombies, a new Squid Game mode known as Red Light, Green Light tasks players with accumulating zombie kills during the Green Light phase. When Red Light is called out, any player who moves has their essence drained. When the Red Light phase starts, players will face increasingly challenging waves of zombies.

The January 3 patch also resolves several bugs in Warzone, including a glitch that could prevent the exfil animation during Ranked Play. The update additionally fixes an issue that wrongly blocked players from using an Advanced UAV in certain situations, as well as another issue related to cash drops.

This patch also introduces a Squid Game mode to Warzone’s Urzikstan map, featuring a series of rotating challenges where teams are eliminated each round until only one remains. Additionally, Red Light and Green Light can also be triggered between rounds.

You can find the full patch notes below, as provided by Activision.

Regarding Squid Game, the second season of the popular Netflix series is currently available. Season 3 is expected to release later this year.

MULTIPLAYER

Modes

  • Red Light, Green Light (NEW)
    • Younger-hee is watching, so don’t make a wrong move at the wrong time. Step onto the field in the Red Card stadium and compete in three rounds of Red Light, Green Light, each lasting two minutes.
    • In Round 1, no one receives a weapon. In Rounds 2 and 3, players can pick up weapons on the ground and eliminate opponents through melee attacks and Finishing Moves. The only rule: When Younger-hee says “Green Light,” the fight is on. Move a muscle after she says “Red Light” and you’re out.
  • Pentathlon (NEW)
    • Prove that you have what it takes in the long run by engaging in a series of Multiplayer modes to determine who reigns supreme! Compete in Domination, Kill Confirmed, and Hardpoint alongside two new mode variants: Piggy Bank Team Deathmatch and Roulette.
      • In Piggy Bank TDM, each elimination contributes points to the Mega Piggy Bank; battle for control of the hefty payout when it drops during the match.
      • In Roulette, single-shot eliminations with the Roulette Handgun offer double points, though with every shot fired, there’s a risk it will blow up in your hands!
  • Squid Game Moshpit (NEW)
    • Ignite the Squid Game Moshpit featuring Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Hardpoint with a twist as players gain access to a set of key Squid Game-themed elements:
      • Red Light, Green Light Scorestreak: Is the battle becoming too intense for you? Halt the enemy in their tracks with this Scorestreak that calls “Red Light,” commanding all enemy players to stop moving or risk elimination.
      • Piggy Bank: Eliminated players have a chance of dropping a Piggy Bank that grants a small score boost when picked up. For a larger reward, search for the Mega Piggy Bank. Each elimination adds points to the Mega Piggy Bank, so when it drops, compete to claim all the deposited points within.
      • Roulette Handgun: The epitome of high risk, high reward. The Roulette Handgun spawns in the center of the map; grab it to activate a temporary UAV effect while wielding it and execute one-shot eliminations against enemies, earning significantly more points to help accumulate Scorestreaks more quickly. The catch? Your location will be marked for all to see, and every shot
“`has a significant risk to detonate the weapon, taking you down as well.
