The inaugural installment of the Demon Slayer Infinity Fortress film series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, is scheduled for an international debut this August.
According to Crunchyroll, the film is set to premiere in Japan on July 18, with its worldwide release kicking off on August 14, starting in Malaysia, Pakistan, and Singapore. On August 15, it will head to Cambodia, Indonesia, and Vietnam, followed by a screening in the Philippines on August 20. Subsequently, the film will reach approximately 50 additional countries before arriving in the United States and Canada on September 12. The release will feature Japanese dialogue with English subtitles, along with an English dub, and it will also be available in IMAX format.
According to the official synopsis, the film follows Tanjiro and the Hashira as they rush to save the headquarters of the Demon Corps but are “dragged into a steep plunge towards a mysterious location by the hands of Muzan Kibutsuji.” The setting of their descent is the demons’ stronghold – the Infinity Castle. Thus, the stage is set for the ultimate clash between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons to commence.”
This marks the first of three films in the Demon Slayer Infinity series, with a trilogy based on the manga being planned. The initial Demon Slayer film, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, was released in 2020 and grossed an astonishing $500 million at the global box office.
