Unveiling the Dark: Anticipation Builds for The Blood of the Dawnwalker Trailer
Arriving on Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
It has been nearly a year since the reveal of Dawnwalker – the new dark fantasy action-RPG from Get up Wolves. If you have been eager to learn more – which is completely reasonable, considering the studio is founded by several former CD Projekt employees, including Witcher 3 game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz – today is your fortunate day. Publisher Namco Bandai has provided the first glimpse of Dawnwalker’s universe in a four-minute cinematic trailer.
Get up Wolves’ inaugural game is now officially named The Blood of Dawnwalker and is characterized as the initial chapter in a “brand-new role-playing saga.” It is a single-player open-world experience, placing a “strong emphasis on story and narrative,” with players stepping into the shoes of Coen – a “young man transformed into a Dawnwalker, eternally walking the thin line between the realm of day and the domain of night.”
The story unfolds in a 14th-century Europe still reeling from the Black Death – a “moment of vulnerability” for a ravaged humanity that allows the world’s long-hidden vampires to emerge and seize control, with other nocturnal creatures following suit. “Legends become reality, and history as we know it will be forever altered.”
There isn’t a significant amount of extra information to share at this moment, yet Bandai Namco indicates that players will need to utilize their abilities – merging “vampiric strength with human determination” – as they embark on a journey to reunite with their loved ones. “Confront your adversaries – whether they are human, beast, or the relentless march of time,” the publisher concludes. “But keep in mind – the true malevolence may bask in the sun’s rays, and the most steadfast allies could be lurking in the shadows of night.”
Previously, Get up Wolves CEO Tomaszkiewicz – who also held the position of assistant director on Cyberpunk 2077 at CD Projekt – implied that The Blood of Dawnwalker would not “be as grand as The Witcher” (instead coming in at about the scale of The Witcher 3‘s Blood and Wine expansion) but that it would offer a “greater” variety of quests. Whether things have changed since then remains uncertain, but today’s cinematic teaser trailer concludes with a promise that more information is on the way.
