Just a day after igniting fan excitement with the surprise announcement of a new Cyberpunk 2077 update, developer CD Projekt has detailed its contents – including enhanced customization options and fresh storytelling features – and has made it publicly available.

The new 2.2 update for Cyberpunk 2077 may not be as loaded with features as last December’s surprisingly substantial 2.1 update, but it definitely brings a variety of exciting new features, fixes, and quality of life improvements – definitely larger than what one might typically expect from a game whose development has officially concluded seven months ago.

On the customization front, players can now modify paint jobs across a wide selection of vehicles using the CrystalCoat technology, which was previously exclusive to Rayfield vehicles – now extending to Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra, and Villefort brands. Additionally, Cyberpunk 2077 now features a vehicle color cloning function (officially known as TWINTONE), allowing players to save color modifications made to one vehicle and apply them to others.

In other vehicle-related news, 10 additional “most requested” vehicles have been introduced for purchase via Autofixer (detailed in the patch notes below), and players can now see Johnny Silverhand appearing in the passenger seat – to comment on or respond to their actions – after completing Act 1.

Customization options have also been broadened for players, with update 2.2 adding new hair and nail colors, fresh tattoos for the face and body, new eyebrow shapes, facial scars, cosmetic face cyberware options, and makeup styles for cheeks, eyes, and lips. Moreover, the Personality Creator randomizer now includes a Simple-to-Punk slider, which essentially does exactly what it suggests.

If you’ve upgraded your vehicle or your V to align with your particular preferences, you can preserve them for memory using enhanced Photo Mode capabilities. These include the ability to spawn up to three NPCs for a shot, control lighting sources, increased camera range, a brand new Depth of Field slider, and options to make the Drone Camera free-roaming, among other toggles. You can now also showcase your favorite snapshots in V’s apartments by interacting with the picture frames.

And that’s not all for Cyberpunk 2077’s version 2.2 update. It also presents a variety of fixes and quality of life enhancements, as well as – most intriguingly – “more secrets to uncover in Night City.” Sounds like it’s time to venture out and search for some Witcher 4 hints, now that the game is officially in “full-scale production”.

Today’s Cyberpunk 2077 update – created in partnership with Virtuos and now available for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 – arrives just before the game’s launch on Mac systems next year. You can learn more about its new features via the developer video above, or by checking out the patch notes below.

New Features

  • Rayfield’s CrystalCoat™ technology, originally designed exclusively for Rayfield vehicles, has now been adopted by other manufacturers. You can now change the paint jobs on vehicles from Herrera, Mizutani, Quadra, and Villefort. Pro tip: Use CrystalCoat™ to trick law enforcement and lower your NCPD wanted level!
  • Kiroshi presents TWINTONE™! As CrystalCoat™ gains popularity, TWINTONE™ elevates your paint options to the next level. Simply scan a vehicle with your Kiroshi optics, switch to the TWINTONE™ tab, then save the vehicle’s color scheme for a small fee. You can then select patterns from the TWINTONE™ database under the CrystalCoat™ menu. There, you will find generic color schemes for all CrystalCoat™ compatible vehicles as well as unique patterns specific to the model from which they were replicated. Note that color cloning is not permitted on vehicles tied to quests, belong to the NCPD, or are incompatible with CrystalCoat™ tech.
  • All vehicles compatible with CrystalCoat™ and TWINTONE™ are marked with a spray can icon on Autofixer.

The ten most requested vehicles from the streets of Night City are now available for purchase on Autofixer:

  • Mizutani Shion MZ1
  • Mizutani Shion Targa MZT
  • Thorton Galena GA32t
  • Thorton Colby CST40
  • Archer Quartz EC-L r275
  • Quadra Form-66 640 TS
  • Quadra Form-66 680 TS
  • Mahir Supron FS3-T
  • Villefort Deleon V410-S Coupe (Phantom Liberty exclusive)
  • Mizutani Hozuki MH2 (Phantom Liberty exclusive)
  • After Act 1, Johnny will now frequently show up in the passenger seat while V is driving to comment on and respond to the events.

We have revamped Photo Mode and included several community-requested features:

  • Drone Camera is now a free camera instead of an orbital camera focused on V.
  • Increased camera range.
  • Full Collision (ON/OFF) – determines if the camera respects in-game object collisions.
  • Lock Camera (ON/OFF) – locks the camera to avoid misclicking and ruining the shot.
  • Slow Camera (ON/OFF) – decelerates the camera for easier aiming.
  • Aspect Ratio (PC-only. Custom-resolution screenshots are not available on consoles. Consoles can only export photos in the standard 16:9 format.)
  • Characters tab: Spawn up to some NPCs in your scene, with an option of over 20 characters to choose from. You can modify their expression, pose, and position.
  • Lighting tab: Spawn and modify light sources.
  • Fixed the Depth of Field ghosting issue.
  • Added a Depth slider.
  • SmartFrames™ by Kiroshi means you can display your Photo Mode shots in-game by interacting with the picture frames in V’s apartments. Browse your scene collection in the new Gallery tab located alongside Journal, Shards, and Tarot. The Gallery pulls .png images from the screenshots folder on your PC or from your console gallery. For further details on SmartFrames™ and the Gallery, see this Enhance article.

Added even more character customization options:
