‘Battlefield Labs’ is now open for exploration

Four years after the release of Battlefield 2042, EA has recently unveiled a snippet of gameplay from its forthcoming Battlefield installment. It’s not formally termed Battlefield 6 just yet, but it is definitely the next significant release. The game is currently in the pre-alpha phase and is inviting public playtesters in the upcoming months.
This public playtesting initiative will operate under ‘Battlefield Labs’, a new program designed to engage players in the development process significantly earlier than previous Battlefield titles. It resembles an early access initiative, but it remains quite exclusive for the moment – you need to register in order to have a chance to participate in the early playtest.
“Battlefield Labs is a platform for us to explore concepts and experiences we are passionate about alongside you, our players. We want our community to play a crucial role in the future of Battlefield, and this is an opportunity for many of you to do just that.
Even in pre-alpha, we take pride in the state of the game. We continuously playtest, but your feedback will significantly enhance our design as we strive to achieve that perfect balance between design, function, and overall experience.
This is a remarkable moment for Battlefield.”
The exciting news is that if you manage to get access, you will be able to join early playtesting on Xbox. EA has confirmed that Battlefield Labs will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, and you will need at least Xbox Game Pass Core to take part on the Microsoft console.
We do not have any specific timeframes regarding the testing program, but EA has previously stated that community testing for BF6 will begin in early 2025, so it appears to be right around the corner following today’s announcement. Battlefield Labs is set to expand over time to “tens of thousands” of players, with testers getting the chance to experience “Conquest and Breakthrough, the essence of our all-out warfare experience”.
Lastly, as we mentioned in the headline, this introduction to BF Labs does include a small glimpse of actual gameplay from the upcoming Battlefield title.
