Lego celebrated Mario Day by unveiling its latest Nintendo tribute model for adults: Mario & Standard Kart. The 1,972-piece replica showcasing Mario and his iconic pink racing kart will be available on May 15 and can be preordered now from the Lego Store for $170. Like all previous Nintendo tribute sets for adults, Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart is expected to be exclusive to the Lego Store at launch, however, this exclusivity period seems shorter this time around. Amazon briefly opened preorders for this set with a launch date of July 1; we will provide updates to this article should Amazon or other major retailers list the Lego Mario Kart tribute set.
Lego Mario Kart: Mario & Standard Kart (1,972 Pieces)
$170 | Releases May 15
With nearly 2,000 pieces, the Mario Kart tribute model stands out as one of the largest Super Mario Lego sets. In comparison to the smaller-scale Mario Kart playsets for children released in January, this complete set offers significantly more detail. This is truly…
the most faithful reproduction of the mustachioed character’s highly-favored kart–his head and fingers are adjustable–and the vehicle looks as if it was plucked directly from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The finished model measures approximately 12.5 inches in length, 7.5 inches in width, and 8.5 inches in height. The display can be arranged flat or at a tilted angle using the included, buildable display stand.
For fans of Nintendo merchandise, Mario & Standard Kart is packaged with a physical instruction manual and features interactive assistance through the Lego Builder app on iOS and Android. Using the free app, you can explore each step of the building process in 3D and manipulate the view to examine your project from any perspective you choose.
The new display model will increase the total count of Mario Kart-themed Lego sets to six. As previously mentioned, the five existing building kits are designed as playsets for builders. Mario’s Standard Kart is one among these five kits; however, with a price of $20, it is significantly smaller and less intricate at a mere 174 pieces.
In addition to the six retail products, there is a Lego Store-exclusive Toad Pit Crew collectible available from March 11 to all customers who spend $40 or more on Lego Super Mario products. The promotional giveaway excludes preorders, so you may need to purchase items that are currently available to take advantage of this offer.
