A modification for Monster Hunter Wilds has been developed that permits for unlimited character and palico alterations, effectively bypassing Capcom’s monetization strategies.

As we reported last week, modifying your character after the initial setup needs special vouchers that can also be purchased for £5.79, although Capcom does provide a voucher to swap your characters once at no cost.

This is an outrageous addition that has nevertheless been part of the games since Monster Hunter World. However, thanks to modder Ridog8, PC gamers can enjoy unlimited character modifications.

The mod still relies on edit vouchers, but they are intended to be unlimited, and should continue to function. Surely Capcom will find a way to patch this out?

Monster Hunter Wilds just launched a few days ago, yet there are already numerous mods available for PC gamers looking to enhance the experience.

For instance, Monster Hunter Wilds features an arachnophobia mode in its accessibility options, but frustratingly, that only applies to the smaller eight-legged creatures that roam the wilds, transforming them into blobs of goo instead.

“I created this mainly because it’s amusing,” the modder quipped, “but it may also assist those who can’t stand to look at them.”

Several mods aim to address some of the major criticisms of Monster Hunter Wilds.

Modder Furiante has created a challenging mod that could increase monster HP and damage, with multiple settings available so hunters can tailor the experience to their preferences.

GreenComfyTea has produced a mod that adds health bars to monsters, although I would argue that part of the fun is not knowing the numbers and waiting for that telltale limp instead.

Another criticism surrounds the dull, rather washed-out visuals of the game, but aside from adjusting the game’s brightness and saturation settings, modder SchiggyCGN has created a reshade that makes the game significantly more vibrant. Other modders have done similar work.

Perhaps most ambitiously, modder Velasquez has designed a mod with new graphical presets in an effort to optimize the game’s performance. Given the poor performance of Monster Hunter Wilds on PC, it is…
