“Unexpected Claim: Actor Asserts They Outworked Margot Robbie on The Suicide Squad”
Creature Commandos lead actor Steve Agee mentions that he didn’t consult John Economos to carry over into the DCU – particularly considering the fact that he spent more time as a CGI shark in Suicide Squad than Margot Robbie did portraying Harley Quinn.
“John Economos’ character in Suicide Squad was a guy in the control room, providing some humorous moments and comic relief. My role as King Shark, however, had a significantly larger motion capture component. I believe I worked more days than anyone else on the film, including Margot, and that was mostly dedicated to King Shark,” Agee told GamesRadar+.
John Economos is a founding member of ARGUS, the organization led by Amanda Waller responsible for assembling the Suicide Squad and the Creature Commandos. He is primarily viewed as an endearing nerd who operates from behind a computer. After a brief appearance in The Suicide Squad, Agee would portray the character on a much larger scale in Peacemaker – and now in Creature Commandos, solidifying Economos as an official part of the revitalized DCU.
On the other hand, King Shark doesn’t appear to be making the transition, even though the inclusion of an anthropomorphic shark with superhuman strength seems logical given the eclectic roster of characters in the new DCU, which features a robot, a radioactive skeleton in a lab coat, a Tasmanian-devil-like weasel, and the Bride of Frankenstein.
“So when he said – it wasn’t until he had actual scripts ready – that we were developing a spin-off for Peacemaker and that Economos would be involved, I was genuinely surprised. I was one of the first people to hear about it,”
